Abstract
-
• Conflict that took place in the 13th century between the Averroist interpretation of Aristoteles and the Thomist one.
• Latin Middle Ages, the name of Averroes appears to theologiansas a real ‘monster’, because it dared to ques tion the anthropological difference between man and animal, which was taken for granted by the Thomist thesis. The article tackles how this controversy, as well as the subsequent triumph of the Thomist thesis, has been one of the most important philosophical events in the history of the Latin West, which on these foundations will elaborate its own ‘invention’ of the human being.
